Just Arrived

Posted on Tuesday 20 March 2007

To get this certification, I had to pass the Fundamentals of Engineering exam (also known as the FE exam), which is the first of two examinations engineers must pass in order to be certified as a Professional Engineer.

The exam is eight hours and is split into a four-hour morning session and a four-hour afternoon session, with a lunch break in between. The morning session is a 120-question general exam for which all examinees must sit. The afternoon session consists of 60 questions and is more discipline-oriented.

I got my money back!

Posted on Tuesday 24 January 2006

I got my money back!

I’d bought a $192 motherboard from thatcomputerstore.com and he, Dave Davis, sent some crappy $60 one instead that wouldn’t work at all for my computer. I sent it back, but he said he never received it. He must have missed the Delivery Confirmation that was on it. As an amusing side note, I told a friend about him and she said, “You should have known better. You knew he was a xtian from his website!” Yes, I knew, but I checked around for reviews and complaints about his store and found none. He’s too dumb to have much of a thriving business. I never found any reviews anywhere…there are a few out there now.

It took me about 3 weeks of work in my spare time to do it. While visiting a friend in Austin, I put flyers about him on cars at his church, which was linked from his site with some xtian business scam going, and I put some in the church business offices. I then sent emails out to everyone I could find he deals with. I made a webpage for him and his business, but hadn’t gotten around to posting it yet. I found all the online business review sites and posted long detailed complaints. I finally contacted the Better Business Bureau and another business organization he was involved with filing complaints. I think it was that plus I found out his wife’s email and told her what he did that changed his mind.

The guy is nearly illiterate too. I was appalled at how poorly he would write to me. He’d come up with blatant lies, then say the opposite later. The worst was that he has a complaint filed at the Customer Affairs Office of the USPS, then later said he’s never had problems with receiving mail. I have never met anyone so full of crap. Some of the things he said was plain retarded. His wife spoke craziness also. They are two peas in a pod.

Check out what he wrote on my receipt from the Paypal refund:

“Message From Seller:
PROTECTION MONEY.THIS IS IN NO WAY A REFUND. MERCHANDICE WAS NEVER RETURNED. THIS PAYMENT IS TO STOP ALL TERRORISTISTIC THRETHS TO MY CHURCH, FAMILY AND CUSTOMERS. THIS IS AN ILLEGALLY OBTAINED FELONY EXTORTION PAYMENT. Receiver. Keenan I. Nichols,1213 April Bloom Apt B ,College Station, TX 77840 will be prosecuted, ACCEPTANCE OF THIS MONEY IS A FULL UNSOLISITED ADMISSION OF GUILT.”

He doesn’t seem to be too happy. Xtians aren’t supposed to be happy anyway. God only loves the poor and suffering, right?

From what he told me, I have church security after me, a dozen warrants, the Secret Service, anti-terrorist organizations, AOL, an Austin Detective, felony extortion charges…and a poor understanding of computers! Funny, I thought my old A+ certification, or being a graduating Computer Engineer might give me some knowledge of computers. I think I may have changed his mind on that last one….

The poor guy just stole from me at a bad time. My computer has been down for a month for lack of a motherboard. I’d just lost 2 grand over a xmas trip gone bad. Then, not having my computer to work and play on and no money to spend, I had spare time this xmas break to play on the internet. So, I got my money back, and maybe the guy will think twice about stealing again.

Bullshit

Posted on Saturday 7 January 2006

I was playing with Winamp this afternoon and watched Bullshit on SHOUTcast TV. It even looked really good for streaming video played on my 24” widescreen LCD monitor. You can check out Bullshit here. Its a great show.

I’m watching quality video streaming over the internet. Amazing. Now if I can get my new motherboard in I will watch Firefly, again, on my 60Gb Ipod Video which is about the size of a deck of playing cards.

The Music Industry

Posted on Saturday 7 January 2006

I have run across some interesting blogs lately talking about the RIAA. User Friendly has some funny comics about them. This other site iTunes iSbogus, is pretty informative also.

I like the idea of being able to buy from the artist directly. The RIAA is one hell of a middle man.

This is from the iTunes iSbogus website: “Every time someone buys major label music, they’re propping up the cartel that keeps independent musicians off the radio. Plus they’re giving money to companies that are suing families with young children. ”

Santa, Santa? Wherefore art thou, Santa?

Posted on Tuesday 20 December 2005

Santa, Santa? Wherefore art thou, Santa?
5 days before Xmas, and what do I see?
Some idiots prancing and protesting
They despise the mere existence of thee!
There is a war-torn Santa splattered on a wall,
And half of a forescore rioting the mall.

What happened to history? Where are their minds?
They protest commercialism, and they rant again capitalism.
Do they wish to be, before the existence of thee?
I damn all the xtians, the god damn thieves.
For stealing you from the pagans, from the other mysteries.

If I were a fool,
And believed in a god,
His name would be Santa, yes, the jolly fellow.
He is Just and he is Honest, and by no means mellow.

Oh, Santa, my Santa, where are you?
Don’t be afraid, because I believe in you.

When the time comes, and you visit me
know I need no gift, for being good, from thee.
My gift is golden, and it is seen on my face.
If I am good, you see happiness.

And all of you assholes spreading misery,
Wishing ill on you is not my intent,
For it is your life that is your punishment.

But for those happy faces,
With those glowing eyes,
Those muscular bodies,
and tanned, yes, tanned and golden, healthy hides,

To you, each and every one,
Have a Merry Xmas with a big ‘M’.
And after a few drinks in celebration,
may you have your only pains
coming from a big ‘P’.
